If Going To Jamaica On Vacation, Bring Your Own Weed.

The police have reported the seizure a quantity of ganja in an anti-narcotics operation in Manchester and St Elizabeth on Sunday, February 15.

Reports are that during the operation, a total of 90 pounds of ganja with an estimated street value of J$450,000. Five pounds of ganja seeds and 10,000 seedlings were also destroyed.

While 23 states in the United States enjoy marijuana legalisation or decriminalisation in some form or another, Jamaica continues to seek and destroy the herb.

In the United States:

Twenty-three states and the District of Columbia currently have laws legalizing marijuana in some form.

Four states have legalized marijuana for recreational use. Alaska and Oregon will become the next states where recreational marijuana is legal after voters approved cannabis ballot measures set to become effective in 2015. District of Columbia voters also recently overwhelmingly approved a ballot initiative legalizing recreational-purpose marijuana that will be subject to Congressional review. Colorado and Washington previously passed similar ballot measures legalizing marijuana in 2012.

Other states have passed medical marijuana laws allowing for limited use of cannabis. Some medical marijuana laws are broader than others, with types of medical conditions that allow for treatment varying from state to state.

What a shame on the Jamaican Government. If there is a law being pushed through to decriminalise the herb, why are the police force destroying entire marijuana farms, even the seeds? This mean by the time it is decriminalise or legalise, Jamaica might have to import weed the way they do everything else.

So to all our friends in the United States, if you are planning to come to Jamaica on vacation, bring your own weed.
