The Border Protection Unit of the Jamaica Customs Agency and the JCF’’s Trans-National Crimes and Narcotics Division are investigating the seizure of marijuana with an estimated street value of over $1.2 million Jamaican dollars.
124 packages containing 568 pounds of marijuana were found concealed in a transhipment container that was destined for Costa Rica at the Kingston Container Terminal.
The drug was seized on Saturday.
The Jamaica Customs Agency says during routine examination of export containers, officers found six bags containing 124 packages with substances resembling vegetable matter.
Subsequent field tests confirmed the substance to be marijuana.
No arrest has been made in conjunction with the seizure.
